Earlier this week, Apple announced at their ”Peek Performance” event that the new iOS version will be launched very soon. During this article, I am going to discuss the new features present in the iOS version.
New Emojis
One of the new fresh addition that excited most of the users is the new emojis! The new emojis have been added due to an update made by the Unicode Consortium.
Face ID with a Mask
One of the new features that were waited for a long time is the ability to use FaceID with a mask. To enable this feature, the user needs to go into the FaceID settings menu and toggle the option “Use Face ID with a Mask” then the user will need to rescan their face. After all of this is done, Face ID should unlock the phone even if you wear a mask.
Siri
There is also an update to Siri. A new voice for Siri which is gender-neutral has been added as “Voice 5”. The digital assistant will also come set up with this new voice by default.
Digital IDs
Last year when Apple unveiled the new iOS 15, they also introduced us to the upcoming ability to store driver licenses and state ID cards digitally in the Wallet app. This feature would also allow the users to easily verify their identity with authorities.
This new feature is not yet widely supported with Arizona being the first state to support it however Apple also announced that Colorado, Hawaii, Mississippi, Ohio, Connecticut, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Oklahoma, Utah and Puerto Rico will support it.
Apple also added features such as:
- Live Text integration with Notes and Reminders apps
- the ability to add notes in Keychain Passwords
- The Apple TV apps’ Up Next section now allows users to either have a Still Frame or a Poster Art as a way of listing the shows in queue
- Improvements in order to prevent AirTags from being misused
- Security fixes of 39 flaws
- Easier way to SharePlay within the Apple Music share menu
- Ability to run Shortcuts completely in the background
- Podcasts adds new filter options (Unplayed and Downloaded)
- New Apple Card widget which allows the user to see the balance and spendings
